Dear JC, thank you for crushing my inner fan-twit
A majority of the games I really find myself enjoying come from Japan. That being said, I've had the occasional, excessively romanticized dream of working in Japan as a game designer. These are purely illogical urges, and thankfully, someone who is actually *there* is giving the straight dope. He has written about what game designers do over there and from what I see, I'd be bored to tears. Dare I say, I'd rather be back in QA in the USA than be a Planner in Japan.
"Japanmanship" is a great blog to read if you're thinking about working in the Japanese game industry. "Jeff in Japan" is written by a fellow who is working at the most gaijin friendly developer in all of Japan, Tri-Ace.
After completing the review I was fretting then passing with flying colors(actually, dare I say those colors blasted off beyond orbit) and enjoying an unbelievable amount of free reign and creative leeway, any thoughts about leaving my current job are pure, unadulterated idiocy. As long as my workplace stays the amazing, quality of life oriented and all around phenomenal studio it is, may I never ever consider leaving again. Especially for some stupid, fangirl whim.
